During the monthly June meeting of the Clayton Fire Company the company took a minute to honor Sydnee Holt the 2024 winner of the John M. Pridemore Memorial Scholarship. The $3,000 scholarship was presented to Ms. Holt in May during the Smyrna High School Awards Program; however, the company invited the awardee to attend out company meeting. Sydnee is the great granddaughter of Past Fire Chief Frederick Burke and comes from a fire service family. Sydnee will attend the University of Tennessee in the fall to study Biomedical Engineering.
The award is presented in honor of Past Chief John M. Pridemore who was killed in the line of duty in 2022 after experiencing a fall at the fire station during a cleanup detail. The scholarship is funded with $1,500 from the Citizen's Hiose Company and $1,500 from the Clayton Fire Company.
