ENGINE AND LADDER GO TO TOWNSEND FOR BARN FIRE

Saturday afternoon at 4:18pm the station was alerted for the Engine and Ladder to assist NCC Sta 26 with a barn fire in the 600 Block of Blackbird Station Road.  Engine 45 w/4, Assist Chief Austin Moorhead and Quint 45 w/5, Deputy Chief Jeff Lightcap arrived to find Townsend units with 2 lines in service on a 80' x 100' barn involved.  The crews from both units went to work assisting with fire attack and overhaul.  Engine 45 supplied Rescue 26 and then was used to shuttle water to the scene.  Crews worked for 45 minutes to bring the fire under control.  Clayton units were back in quarters by 6:30pm.  Units from Townsend, Volunteer Hose of MIddletown, Odessa, Clayton, Smyrna, Leipsic, Christiana, Upland Fire Co from Del. County Pa. (who was on a pre-arranged cover up to Townsend) and NCC EMS units were on scene.  Special Thank You to the crew from Hartly Engine 51-3 for covering our first due.  Photo's courtesy Mike Carroll.
