COMPANY MOURNS THE PASSING OF FIREFIGHTER WILLIAM C. DOBAVON III

The Clayton Fire Company is mourning the passing of Firefighter William C. "Billy" Donavon III.who passed away on Monday May 9th at Bayhealth Medical Facility in Dover.  Billy is also the son of Past President William C. Donavon Jr. We ask that you please keep the Donavon Family in your thoughts and prayers.

Born April 29, 1978 At Rest May 9, 2022

William C. Donavon, III, affectionately known as “Billy” unexpectedly passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, Delaware at the age of 44.

He was born in Dover, Delaware on April 29, 1978 to William C. Donavon, Jr. and the late Lynda C. Donavon.
After graduating from Smyrna High School, Billy attended Hodgson Vo Tech, where he earned a Machinist Journeyman’s Paper.

A talented Machinist, he was employed by Horn’s Machine Shop, Troutman Machine, John P. Morgan Construction, and Playtex Products.

Billy served several organizations during his life time, but his secret passion was Clayton Fire Company.

Though he lived a very simple life, Billy had the biggest heart, the greatest sarcasm and gave the best hugs. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his mother Lynda C. Donavon, paternal grandparents William C. Donavon, Sr. and Jeanette C. Donavon, and maternal grandparents Harvey T. Cassell and Marie Cassell.

Billy is survived by his children Troy V. Donavon of Lincoln and Lexxi Donavon of Seaford, his father William C. “Cleve” Donavon, Jr., sister Jennifer Donavon, niece Madison Donavon, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Memorial services will begin at 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Clayton Fire Company or local SPCA.

The family is deeply grateful to the ER Staff at Bayhealth Medical Center.
