ENGINE, BRUSH AND UTILITY GO TO SMYRNA FOR FIELD FIRE
Friday, October 11, 2019

Friday afternoon at 1:21pm the station was alerted for the brush and engine to assist Station 44 Smyrna on a field fire.  Brush 45 w/4, Deputy Chief John Pridemore and Engine 45-3 w/6, Captain Jonathan Burnett arrived to find Smyrna units with a large bean field on fire and spreading rapidly.  Crews from both trucks went to work trying to stop the spread of the fire.  It took firefighters over an hour to bring the fire under control.  Command requested additional resources from Leipsic and manpower from both Smyrna and Clayton.  Assistant Chief Robbie Daniiels (44-17) had command.  State RT1 which ran right next to the fire was shut dowb in both directions for a period of time due to heavy smoke drifting across the highway.  Units responding;  Brush 44-0, 45, Enhines 44-3, 44-4, 45-3, Squad 53, Tanker 53, 44-8 w/Ranger 44, Utility 45.  Photo's courtesy Amber Johnson, Jerry Hull and Wayne Christopher Lineberry Jr..
