FIRST SNOW OF THE YEAR BRINGS VEHICLE OVERTURNED WITH SUBJECT TRAPPED

The first snow of the winter hit the area cauusing slippery roads and a vehicle overturned with injuries,  Thursdays unexpected snow made area roads slippery for morning drivers.  Just after daybreak it began snowing and quickly made roads slippery.  At 10:57am the station along with Ambulance 64, KM6, KM5 and Trooper 4 were dispatched for the MVC with a vehicle overturned and a subject trapped.  Rescue 45 w/6, Capt. Austin Moorhead made the response in just over a minute flowed closely by Engine 45-3 w/7, Capt. Jonathon Burnett, Command 45 w/Deputy Chief Alex Carrow and Bursh 45 w/2, Asst. Chief Jeff Lightcap.  Rssponding units were advised the caller was reporting a vehicle overturned with a subject trapped.  Station 45 units arrived and began stabilizing a single vehicle on its side with 2 subjects trapped.  Once the vehicle was stabilized the crews went to work removing the windshield and flapping part of the roof back and out of the way making access for EMS to the patients.  Both occupants were transported to Bayhealth in Dover.  Captain Moorhead had the Command.  Units responding; Command 45, Brush 45, Rescue 45, Engine 45-3, A & B 64, KM6, Sta 45 Fire Police.  Photo's courtesy Jerry Hull & Joe Jones from Sta 45.
