Friday after noon after just having being dispatched and cancelled on a Structure fire in Middletown the station was dispatched to assist Station 26 Townsend on a multi vehicle accident with fatalities on Route 1 NB just north of Pine Tree Road in Townsend. Rescue 45 w/6, Capt Austin Moorhead and Engine 45-3 w/5, Asst. Chief Jeff Lightcap made the response. The rescue arrived and assisted with sxtrication of several trapped vicitims in a mini van. In total there were 5 priority 4's at the scene and 4 priority 1's and 3's transported to area hospitals in several BLS units and 2 helicopters. The highway was closed for over 5 hours while the police investigated the accident. later into the incident engine 45-3 was redirected to Station 26 to cover their district while they were committed on the scene. Chief Rickie Clark Jr. from Townsend had the Command. Units responding: Rescues 26, 24, 44, 45, 29, Squad 26, Engines 26, 24, 44, 45, Troopers 4, 2 and Lifenet Aviation Units, numerious EMS and other Support Apparatus.
