WOODS FIRE KEEPS VOLUNTEERS BUSY

Monday afternoon just after lunch at 12:09 the station was dispatched for the Outside Fire in the 600 Block of Oak Hill School Road.  Command 45 w/Deputy Chief Alex Carrow, Brush 45 w/3 Captain Jonathon Burnett and Engine 45-3 w/3, Firefighter Josh Klingler made the response. Command 45 arrived to find a large brush pile on fire that had extended into a wooded area.  Chief Carrow established Command and requested an Field Piece and Engine from Station 26 Townsend and the additional engine out of the station.  Engine 45-2 w/3, Firefighter Dave Ross, Brush 26-1 and Tanker 26 made the response.  Brush 45 and 26-1 worked to control the woods fire while the engine crews assisted with a water supply and helped with overhaul.  The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes and units stayed on scene for an additional 30 minutes wetting the area down.  Units responding; Command 45, Brush 45, 2601, Engines 45-2 & 3, Tanker 26, Sta 45 Fire Police.  Photo's courtesy Jerry Hull.
