A late night structure fire did moderate damage to a residence in Claybourne. Tuesday evening at 10:34pm the station along with Engine, Tanker and Rescue from Station 44, Station 26 for the RIT, Ambulance 64 and KM6 were alerted for the residential structure fire located at 404 Pauline Drive in the Claybourne Develop northwest of Clayton. Command 45 w/ Assistant Chief Jeff Lightcap arrived to find a 2 story family dwelling with fire on the Bravo side and heavy smoke showing from the rest of the structure. He was followed closely by Engine 45-3 w/6, Captain Jack Davis, Quint 45 w/5, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow and Engine 45-4 w/8, FF Dave Ross. The engine companies each placed a hand line in service while the crews from Quint 45 & Rescue 44 handled the searches and opened up for the engine companies. The crew from Squad 26 handled the RIT and was later used to assist with overhaul. The fire which started in the chimney area on the first floor extended to the second floor and attic. Engine companies made quick work of the fire while the searches came up negative. Additional manpower assisted with salvage work on both floor. Chief Lightcap had the Command. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating. Hartly Fire Company Engine 51-3 covered station 45 during the call.
