Associate Member Julia Reed was recognized on Thursday May 9 with the Exelon Corporation 2019 Powering our Communities Merit Award. Exelon is a parent company of Delmarva Power and Light which Julie works for. The award recognizes employees for your time and efforts in volunteering in their local communities. The award is also accompanied by a $5,000.00 grant to the fire company. Julie has been an associate Member with the fire company for over 3 years and was in 2018 awarded the first ever Associate Member of the Year Award for work within the fire company. This year Julie has taken on an even more acrtive role at the fire company serving as Assistant Secretary and is in charge of the day to day operation of the bar in the banquet facility. The grant money recieved will be used to purchase particular blocking hoods for our interior firefighters. Recent studies show that cancer is one of the leading deaths with firefighters. These hoods will help protect each interior firefighter. Each of these firefighters will recieve 2 of these hoods. Present with Julie at the awards program where members of her family. The officers and memebrs of the fire company would like to congratulate Julie for her well deserved award and thank her and all our volunteers for everything they do for the company and the community day in and day out.
