MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH A SUBJECT STRUCK

Thursday evening just before dinner at 4:50pm the station along with Ambulance 64, Kent County Paramedics and Delaware Sate Police Avaiation were dispatched for the auto accident with a subject struck by a vehicle in the 300 Block of Smyrna Ave.  Command 45 w/Deputy Chief Alex Carrow and Rescue 45 w/5, Firefighter Austin Moorhead arrived to find a Clayton PD Officer had been struck by a vehicle and the vehicle had fled.  Crews began until EMS arrived and took over patient care.  The officer was transported to Smyrna/Clayton ER with half of KM6 with minor injuries.  All other units were placed in service by command.  Fire Police remained on scene for sometime keeping the roadway closed or the police investigation.  The suspect was later captured by Smyrna PD.  Deputy Chief Carrow had the Clayton Command.  Units responding; Command 45, Rescue 45, B & C 64, KM6, KM5, Trooper 4, Clayton PD, Smyrna PD, DSP.  Photo's courtesy Jerry Hull.
